Essential Job Functions: Assists in executing classroom lesson plans and maintaining the classroom based on specific instructions; assists with small or large groups or under the direction of a certificated professional; assists in the implementation of individualized plans for the children in the classroom. Assists in ensuring the implantation of safe and supervised indoor and outdoor activities of children; assists in maintaining classroom control according to policies established by the supervising professional and school administration; assists children during snack and meal time; and helps demonstrate appropriate dental and personal hygiene. With the teacher, maintains supervision and ratios of children in the classroom. Performs routine classroom duties such as keeping attendance records, preparing attendance reports, keeping inventory of supplies and materials, typing and duplicating; assists in maintaining a neat and orderly learning environment; assists in the preparation of instructional training materials such as charts, displays, signs and drawings; operates classroom equipment; corrects and scores assignments; records objective personal student data. Other Job Functions: Assume other related duties as the teacher, principal or the District may assign. Job Requirements – Qualifications:Experience Required: Have a minimum of six months demonstrated experience in teaching or working with children or young people. Must have CPR and First aid Certification. Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required: Knowledge of effective methods for controlling and motivating children; knowledge of basic English, grammar, mathematics and writing skills equivalent to high school graduates; ability to learn methods and procedures to be followed in an instructional situation; ability to follow oral and written directions; ability to communicate effectively with adults and children; ability to project a mature, constructive, stable and healthy attitude in a learning environment; basic child guidance and development principles and characteristics; appropriate student behavior management strategies and techniques; routine clerical and record keeping methods; and complete annual individual professional development plan. Education Required: Must have and maintain the following: have a California Child Development Associate Teacher Permit. Working Condition:The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job at a school site or school sponsored event. While performing the duties of this job, the employee works at a school site the majority of the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high. Physical Abilities: Essential functions and other responsibilities may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, standing, or walking for prolonged periods of time; and pushing small, nutrition cart. Hearing and speaking to exchange information and lead small or large student groups under the direction of a certificated professional.
