CERTIFIED MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Project Description:

• Under the supervision of the Occupational Health Nurse, this position will be accountable for furthering the strategic employee health support with medical surveillance and EHS programs at the West Coast of the Client’s sites.
• Works with OHS and EHS to arrange and coordinate the medical surveillance program including scheduling initial examinations, needed follow-up and periodic examinations through a designated 3rd party occupational health clinic.
• Review examination results for completeness.
• Assist with scheduling Return-to-Work medical clearance per the Client’s protocol.
• Ensure PPE supplies and forms are current and adequately meet the Temperature & Wellness Screening program protocols.
• Assist with location and contact tracing process.
• Coordination of meetings with appropriate parties to review location and contact tracing data.
• Responsible for initiating communication, securing and maintaining all medical documentation obtained from designated 3rd party occupational health clinic and other employee-provided medical documents.
• Support data entry into an electronic medical record database and for medical records archiving.
• Support the ergonomic program including tracking of ergonomic supplies, tracking completion of ergonomic evaluations, tracking ergonomic training, supporting ergonomic initiatives, assess for feedback to improve the ergonomic program process, documentation and coordination with safety regarding prevention of ergonomic injuries.
• Integrate OHS and EHS health protection efforts with health promotion and other workplace initiatives to prevent illness and injury.
• Review and screen incoming email requests for injury reporting, ergonomic supplies and EHS supplies.
• Able to notify and route the requests to the appropriate OHS or EHS staff.
• Acts as a liaison between HR, EHS and OHS for data collection to support OHS and EHS programs.
• Data entry of supporting documents into electronic system for work-related injury/illness and workers’ cases.
• Assemble hardcopy medical documents in chronological order in a paper chart. Able to alphabetize paperwork.
• Assure confidentiality of personal health information, HIPAA compliance and comply with the Client’s Code of Conduct and Business Ethics as well as all legal and regulatory requirements.

 
Required Skills:

• Must be a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical environment.
• At least 1-3 years working with GXP environment or Research & Development environment is preferred.
• At least 1-3 years working independently in an occupational health clinic is preferred.
• Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA regulations, specifically recordkeeping is preferred.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with other members.
• Ability to manage projects at a high level.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, Microsoft office suite.
• Maintain all medical information per legal, HIPAA and ethical requirements.
• Have customer service skills to communicate to workers and third-party medical providers for records and additional pertinent patient information.
• Able to conduct contact and location tracing for COVID-19.
• Microsoft Office proficiency, particularly Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
• Inventory management (ergonomic equipment, personal protective equipment such as respirators and masks) and keeping supplies stocked.
• Prepare and maintain hardcopy medical records/medical charts for review.
• Able to save electronic medical records to the correct file.
• Experience working in an Occupational Health/Occupational Medicine environment or a medical/clinical setting.

 
This 3+ month position starts ASAP.
