Experience Design Associate, Manager or Manager Senior, DOE Open to anywhere in Oregon, Washington, Idaho and Utah Primary Job Purpose As part of the larger Cambia Insights team, the Experience Design professionals provide systems and design thinking for the organization. This role works with stakeholders across the organization on projects as a strategic partner to guide teams to improve experiences for the users within the health insurance ecosystem (member, employer, producer, provider, and employee). The position works to define the experience design process, apply appropriate concepts and methods, support the business owners in developing design deliverables, and ultimately champion the improvements through to completion. By consulting with individuals and teams on how to solve problems in collaborative ways, this role will offer a balanced approach to improving an experience while minimizing risk for the organization. Additionally, this role provides trainings and certification in human centered design to employees across the organization to enable experience-driven work at scale. General Functions and Outcomes Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with Product, Marketing, IT, Customer Experience, Finance, etc. to drive awareness of human centered design and communicate complex issues in a format that can easily be understood and acted upon across the organization. Increase the use of design principles within the organization to deliver better experiences and provide a competitive advantage. Report findings to project specific teams as well as disseminating throughout the organization. Identify and partner with organizational champions for customer experience to influence change Partner with key business units and partners to improve key processes that define member touch points. Engage other employees, partners, and members in co-creating the experience from a member point-of-view. Additional General Functions & Outcomes for Experience Design Manager Contribute to high-impact projects that are designed to improve experiences across the health insurance ecosystem. Contribute to definition of research objectives and determination of human centered design methods best suited for the objective. Synthesize research across projects to link potentially siloed projects together for deeper insights. Engage on high-impact projects that are designed to improve experiences across the health insurance ecosystem. Lead the definition, discovery, and design approach and determine human-centered design methods best suited for the objectives. Provide coaching and guidance to team members. Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate strategic planning sessions. Demonstrated ability to influence enterprise level projects and senior leadership to move from an operationally based design process to a customer focused one. Additional General Functions & Outcomes for Experience Design Mgr Sr Support implementation of training programs in human centered design for cross functional teams Implement human centered methods across the organization by leading/mentoring teams through the HCD process. Advocate for business improvements that will improve experiences and increase economic value from reduced attrition, fewer complaints, and positive word of mouth. Lead high-impact projects that are designed to improve experiences across the health insurance ecosystem. Effectively handle complex cases and tasks including responding to issues related to the role or department. Serve as design strategist, creating custom frameworks and sessions that support better alignment across teams, collaborative ideation, and solutions that drive better internal processes and integration. Demonstrated ability to teach others in the organization to use design principles and methodologies in their day-to-day work. Minimum Requirements Competencies and Knowledge: Strong consumer focus, demonstrated by education, projects implementing human centered design, or certification from an established institution in design thinking (e.g., The LUMA Institute, IDEO, etc.) Experience presenting findings and recommendations to a variety of audiences. Demonstrated ability to identify issues, opportunities, and effective solutions and collaborate with other departments to improve processes and/or results. Demonstrated ability to design and conduct innovative and effective human centered design research. Demonstrated ability to translate research findings and strategy into tactical execution through clear objectives and prioritization. Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate a complex environment. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams. Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above: The Experience Design Associate would have a Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of professional experience in design thinking. The Experience Design Manager would have a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of professional experience in design thinking. The Experience Design Manager Sr would have a Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years’ professional experience in design thinking. A graduate degree is preferred.
