Freelance Layout Designer

Celebrity Series of Boston is searching for a talented freelance layout designer to assist our marketing team with weekly program book layouts. As a contracted layout designer for program books, you will be working closely with the Program Book Associate and Design and Multimedia Manager on an as needed basis to help layout our 70+ program books throughout the Celebrity Series season. Your job is to ensure that text, images, and media are balanced, and to ensure a pleasant reading experience following the Celebrity Series brand guidelines and program book template.
To be successful, the contractor should have graphic design experience and experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Scope of work:
- Arranging page elements following the program book template.
- 2 rounds of edits per program book.
- Modifying page graphics to work with the images and text.
- Examining page proofs and submitting for review.
- Monthly meetings to review upcoming programs.
What you bring:
Experience with Adobe InDesign is required. Experience with Canva and photoshop is preferred.
- Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Three years of experience as a layout designer or graphic designer.
- Proficiency with industry desktop publishing tools including Adobe Photoshop and InDesign.
- Excellent composition and visual design skills.
- A deep understanding of typography principles.
- Advanced proofreading skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.
