JOB DESCRIPTION
The Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Preschool.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
- Will provide specialized individual or group instruction to the student in their classroom or in their home environment in conjunction with their specific mandate.
- Will provide consultation to the classroom teacher to assist in meeting the students needs by making accommodations to the classroom instructional supplies and/or curriculum.
- Will provide current educational evaluations and updates as requested by the Department of Education.
- Will attend a minimum of 2 parent teacher evening conferences throughout the school year.
- Evaluate children annually or as requested by the Director.
- Develop and implement individual educational plans (goals) for each student.
- Assist ancillary staff with interpretation of evaluation data.
- Documentation of areas of work, results and other information for Director.
- Responsible for maintaining current forms from the Department of Education.
- Implementation of recommendations and instructions given by Director.
- Attend annual CPSE and CSE meeting when required.
- Attend necessary in-service training as mandated through all governing agencies (Dept. of Health, State Education Department and NYC Department of Education.)
- In addition to having a student caseload the SEIT Coordinator will:
- Create and maintain schedules for each SEIT and student.
- Train and familiarize each SEIT with their job responsibilities.
- Conduct weekly meetings to review caseloads and brainstorm.
- Review all paperwork.
- Observe SEIT and their students as needed.
- Submit yearly evaluations of job performance.
- All duties as assigned.
