The Counseling Manager provides support and development of their respective team of Counselors within their designated outpatient clinic. This individual is entrusted with the direct supervision of their Counseling team in order to ensure that we are offering the highest quality of care for the clients we serve. This will be a team effort along with the PNP and Shared Services Managers. Time will be split between direct client care and administrative responsibilities. This individual is expected to lead by example to create a positive work environment for clients and staff alike. It is essential that the Counseling Manager be flexible with their time which may include being available even when not in the office.

Administrative Duties:
Oversee the day to day functioning of the Counseling Department within your clinic while collaborating with other clinic managers to address clinic policies and procedures.
Supervise Counselors.
Available for urgent client or clinic needs on weekends and evenings.
Assist, train, and support the Quality Management department to meet all regulatory requirements.
Responsible for the clinical productivity of direct reports.
Work with the Population Health Department to have an understanding of clinical trends within your assigned clinic.
Report directly to the Outpatient Clinical Director and work with CCO to develop clinical visioning for the department.
Complete clinical audits regularly and provide individualized feedback to providers.
Conduct one on one meetings with providers.
Conduct daily huddles with other clinic managers and team.
Provide clinical consultation and support to staff as needed.
Assure that the quality of clinical services is maintained.
Respond to personnel issues within the Counseling department in assigned clinics and take appropriate disciplinary action as necessary.
Participate in mentoring and coaching staff to improve performance.
Support CPR’s training mission and foster a learning environment for Counseling students.
Provide clinical supervision as needed to CPR clinical staff seeking independent licensure.
Review all reports of suspected abuse or neglect of vulnerable adults or minors and assure that appropriate actions are taken.
Review all clinical incident reports. Consider actions to be taken and implement changes to avoid similar incidents in the future.
Responsible for assisting CPR’s human resources department in recruiting, interviewing and hiring providers for the Counseling department.
Responsible for onboarding and training of new hire Counselors at the assigned clinic.
Review and approve ADP requests of direct reports.
Attend leadership meetings and incorporate company policies and changes into the Counseling department.
Meet regularly with the Outpatient Clinical Director and other Counseling Managers.
Meet regularly with direct reports to review and develop departmental improvements and changes.
Meet regularly with the PNP Director in a collaboration with the Counseling and PNP department.
Work with other Counseling Managers to arrange coverage when out of the office.
Clinical Practice Duties:
Complete intakes and provide ongoing psychotherapy based on the individual client’s level of functioning, behavioral health symptoms and history.
Demonstrate clinical expertise in diagnosing mental illness and providing appropriate and effective treatment recommendations.
Develop individualized treatment plans.
Utilize the designated evidence based outcome measures with clients to further identify treatment needs.
Complete appropriate risk assessment on patients and intervene with crisis and emergency services to ensure optimal patient care and safety. Outpatient procedures and policies should be followed to ensure the client is receiving the appropriate level of care.
Appropriate documentation requirements will be followed.
Complete assessment reviews.
Participate in quality outcome measures as put in place by CPR.
Become proficient in EMR and any other software introduced by CPR for clinical work.
Work closely with shared services staff.
Coordinate with primary care and appropriate specialists who are working with shared patients.
Attend and participate in clinical staffings with counselors and nurse practitioners.
Ensure regular staffing with CPR PNPs as it pertains to mutual clients
Manage ancillary needs of patients as appropriate including completing paperwork for FMLA, disability etc.
Consistently demonstrate CPR’s core values.
Consistently observe HIPAA-compliant patient confidentiality measures.
Co-sign notes when insurance is requiring supervision and give feedback on chart notes as appropriate.
Be available to staff clinical cases regularly with counseling staff.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Current, unrestricted license(s) issued by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners including LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker); LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor); PhD (Doctor of Philosophy); PsyD (Doctor of Psychology); LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist); and PNP (Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner).
Experience within an outpatient setting is preferred.
Other Items:
Must comply with training and supervision requirements during the first 90 days of employment, and throughout employment.
All licensed, certified or registered staff will be monitored regarding restrictions, Medicare/Medicaid sanctions, criminal violations, subsequent malpractice actions and any settlement made on behalf of the practitioner.
All CPR clinical staff are required to apply for, and/or present and maintain, within 7 days of hire, a Class One Fingerprint Clearance card. If application is necessary, a copy must be submitted to include in the personnel file until card is received. Also to provide a copy of the card upon any renewal.
Valid driver’s license and auto insurance must be maintained at all times. Must maintain current CPR/First Aid card and bi-annual TB test.
All counselors at CPR are required to carry individual malpractice insurance.
All expirables to be renewed and submitted 30 days prior to expiration date. It is the duty of the licensee to keep all expirables active and current and report any mandated change to the Board immediately.
