Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis.
Job Role Summary
The HIM Physician Support Analyst acts as liaison between HIM and IT for the physician community to help resolve any technical issues that may affect timely completion of medical record documents. This position provides training and orientation required for HIM processes and systems to physician community (deficiency assignment, dictation and transcription).
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Provides training and orientation required for HIM processes and systems to physician community (deficiency assignment, dictation and transcription)
- Helps manage the HIM support “ticket” system
- Provides support for OnBase MRM Record Completion and Mmodal Speechmotion for the Physicians
- Acts as liaison between HIM and IT for the physician community to help resolve any technical issues that may affect timely completion of medical record documents
- Helps manage the physician privilege suspension process
- Provides reports from OnBase Reports Services as requested by physicians
- Facilitates timely completion of medical record deficiency by physicians/physician extenders, and serves as a liaison with them for questions related to medical record deficiencies
- Sends notifications to physician community on medical record documents requiring immediate correction and/or completion
- Assists HIM Record Operations Technicians with questions related to documentation deficiency identification and completion, chart analysis and reanalysis processes and procedures
- Monitors and manages daily analysis workflow to ensure analysis is completed on schedule to support DNFB goals for inpatient, observation and ambulatory surgery discharges
- Provides current and backup support to all MPI tasks and processes
- Proactively initiates performance and process improvement ideas for workflow, processes, training, and staff support
- Responsible for working the daily exception system reports
- Meets departmental standards of quality, productivity, and accuracy
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with medical records in acute care hospital setting performing responsibilities related to chart analysis, transcription, record completion, or release of information
- Prior experience coordinating HIM process operations
- Prior experience with document imaging processes and procedures
- Prior experience as team leader/coordinator
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Prefer familiarity with information systems used at Eskenazi Health, to include but not limited to: McKesson, RCIS, Gopher, Careweb, Speech Motion, Hyland OnBase, Provation, Navicare, Avatar, ECW, SIS, G3, and Cactus
- Microsoft Word skills to write correspondence
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service and organizational skills
- Ability to:
- Work as an effective team member
- Proficiently use a Microsoft Windows workstation
- Present information to groups of physicians/individuals
- Knowledgeable of
- medical record forms and chart organization
- medical terminology
