Esperanza Health Centers Looking for Bilingual COVID-19 Medical Assistant ($600 Signing Bonus) at Chicago, IL Full Time

Starting Pay $18.58/hour – New Hires eligible for a $600 signing bonus

Position purpose: Our COVID-19 Medical Assistant will be responsible for administering vaccination, providing patient education, and performing COVID-19 testing. They will assist healthcare providers, and staff to provide high quality clinical care through various clinic duties. Will also, assist in preparing patients for all medical services.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions except for those that begin with the word May.)

1. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment program, and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
2. Ensures exceptional customer service is offered to all patients and visitors using the AIDET principles. (Acknowledge. Introduce. Duration. Explanation. Thank.)
3. Administers vaccinations, patient education and C19 testing duties.
4. Takes patients’ vital signs; prepares patients for examinations, giving them instructions based upon the reason for the visit.
5. Performs initial interviews with new patients, obtaining pertinent medical history information for use by the healthcare provider during examinations.
6. Assists health care provider with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care. Obtains consent for procedures as necessary.
7. Performs Phlebotomy, Point of Care Testing (POCT) and EKG’s in accordance with established standards, practices, policies and procedures.
8. Administers immunizations and injections as ordered by the healthcare provider and records appropriately in the medical record. Responsible for proper storage of immunizations. Maintains temperature logs as necessary (i.e. Immunization/medication refrigerator).
9. Keeps inventory and orders monthly supply of immunizations through Vaccines for Children (VFC) program as well as keeps up-to-date inventory of logbook.
10. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures. Monitors and restocks supplies; ensures proper functioning of equipment. Notifies supervisor of malfunctioning equipment and completes corrective action log.
11. May be required to act as back-up to Front Desk Staff (Patient Service Representatives).
12. Collects specimens as directed and completes requisitions for laboratory analysis.
13. Demonstrates sensitivity to patients’ comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
14. Triages patient, physician and pharmacy phone messages and keeps precise documentation of all patient encounters.
15. Files lab and x-ray reports and reports abnormal results to health care providers.

Requirements:

1. Completion of a Medical Assistant program, required

2. Experience vaccinating adults and pediatric patients, required

3. Experience with Electronic Health Records

4. Excellent customer service, interpersonal skills and telephone skills

5. Bilingual Spanish/English, required
