 Job Description:

Teachers of the FBGNC will be responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment in our 2yr-5yr old childcare center.  Teachers will implement age appropriate curriculum for children; by planning and implementing a program to teach young children dual language and a STEAM education lesson plans.  The FBGNC Preschool Teacher will provide a quality caring and supportive preschool program to children and families within the community that addresses their unique child care needs, meets all regulatory standards required by FSSA Licensing Guidelines, Paths to Quality, CACFP and accreditation standards.  This position reports to the Child Care Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:                   

1. Plan, carry out, and assess developmentally appropriate activities and experiences in harmony with the center’s philosophy
2. Prepare weekly/monthly lesson plans, class schedules, newsletters for children/parents.
3. Implement school policies & procedures, maintaining centers, play areas, keeping rooms orderly and in safe conditions.
4. Establish routines & provide positive guidance, record daily observations (note development of the child) for children’s behavior and activities.
5. Ensure the child’s environment is healthy and safe
6. Ensure positive communication with parents
7. Promote the center within the community
8. Perform other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS:          

• Physical demands-lifting children and equipment, sitting on floor or child-sized furniture,
• Environmental demands-noisy, busy, may have to supervise a number of activities at once.
• Mental demands-Caring for children can be stressful. Must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any given time and communicate with the parents about concerns in the class.

Requirement(s):                             

• Current CDA or Degree in Early Childhood Education
• Documentation in accordance with Indiana FSSA Licensing Guidelines for Licensed Centers
• An understanding of the issues that affect children and their families
• Excellent interpersonal skills with children, parents, coworkers and community members
• Mature and responsible attitude towards working with children
• Willingness to work flexible hours

SCHEDULE:                             M-F   30-40 hours/week Hours of operation 6am – 6pm
