Fox Chapel Publishing is searching for a talented Book Graphic Designer. The Book Graphic Designer position handles all aspects of design and production of our books. Book Graphic Designers bring a strong design background to laying out book covers and pages as well as assisting the Editorial department with content development.
Our home offices are located in Mount Joy, PA. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to home offices. Remote candidates will not be considered at this time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for design and layout of books.
- Composes and prepares final files for printed and electronic craft and hobby books.
- Assists and manages photo shoots.
- Checks color proofs and digital blues (??) for printing.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects and maintain schedules for projects.
- This position works closely with the Design and Production Manager as well as the Editorial Department.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or similar field. Non-degreed candidates will be considered with equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in graphic design.
- Knowledge of book production, including eBooks, and book printing is preferred.
Cognitive Tasks:
Must be detail-oriented and organized. Ability to comprehend, retain, and follow oral and written instructions. Must have capability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or listen. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
Work Environment:
Must be able to work in a professional office environment. Ability to work independently or as a member of a team.
Computer Skills:
Expert level proficiency needed in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Must have expert level proficiency in full Adobe Creative Suite. Must have a thorough working knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year
