Who We Are
Hope is a clinical, educational, and therapeutic provider for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder. We exist to help children and their families reach their maximum potential by providing state-of-the-art applied behavioral analysis therapies, access to recreation, vocational training, and individualized education programming. Hope offers dynamic, varied programs individualized to the individual’s needs. Our mission is to provide state-of-the-art services in the most inclusive environments to encourage persons to fulfill their individual potential through evidence-based treatment, advocacy, and community education.
In 1957, the Hope School, founded by Dr. and Mrs. Charles E. Jordan, opened its doors in a modest home in Springfield, IL. At the time, no school could serve the Jordans’ daughter Judith Ann who exhibited multiple disabilities. The Hope School (now known as the Hope Learning Academy) filled that need and quickly became a place of hope and healing for other families seeking community services for children with disabilities. Since 1957, the Hope Learning Academy has led the development of new methods to educate, treat, and care for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other intellectual and developmental disabilities.
