KeyStaff is currently seeking an experienced Graphic Designer to fill a opening with The Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources in Sarasota, FL. The candidate should be able to:

Primary Purpose:

This position serves as a Communications professional for the seven divisions of Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources. The position develops the design and content for a variety of projects including electronic deliverables (e-newsletters, social media campaigns, web) and print deliverables (flyers, brochures, guides, booklets, posters, signage). The position will have a focus on supporting design and production of kiosks for various parks.

Essential Functions:

Design and digital production of communications materials

• Operate a Windows-based computer using Adobe Creative Suites (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) to design, lay out, produce, illustrate and generate print-ready and web-ready files.

• Responsible for taking projects from initial concept stage through completion including, but not limited to, gathering pertinent information, initial design, proofing, final production.

• Manage the established creative process for creating kiosk content.

• Creates PRNR materials including events and activities guides, capital campaigns, signature event deliverables, annual reports, kiosks, social media, web content, signage.

• Collaborate with GIS department and Division staff to create accurate maps.

• Develop social media content including copy writing and posting.

• Maintain PRNR’s style manual, resources guide and templates.

• Attend project meetings with fellow PRNR staff to discuss requests, brainstorm and plan work.

• Monitor and track the production of projects to ensure proper and timely completion.

• Manage and maintain graphic files, including photos in the design archive. Follow department and county government procedures, policies, directives and guidance. Ensure actions are aligned with county’s vision, mission, values and goals. Provide excellent customer service in each task and/or assigned project whether for internal and/or external use.

Education and/or Experience: (as required for the job)

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations, Marketing, Mass Communications, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Illustration, or related field with 5 years of related experience. Expert in Adobe Creative Cloud programs (Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop), and project management software.

Specific knowledge, skills, abilities and/or machines, equipment, special tools as required for the job:

• Strong written/verbal communications, effective troubleshooting skills, serves as a team member, strong interpersonal relations, strong project coordination, social media applications expertise (Facebook and Loomly).
• Ability to operate a Windows-based computer using current design software, specifically the Adobe Creative Suites (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team, with project coordinators and other designers.
• Ability to prepare materials for offset printing; knowledge of different formats for printing: pdf, eps, rgb, cmyk, jpg, tiff, png, ai. Adept to multitasking and prioritizing projects and deadlines, executing high quality work products under tight deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
• Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques of digital graphic design, layout and illustration. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, especially with AP Style.
• Ability to work in a paperless workflow.. Windows-based computer, keyboard and mouse, plotter for large format prints.

Schedules:

Monday thru Friday 8:30am- 5:30pm / 40 hours per week

Pay Rate: Based on Experience Starting in $20- $30

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $30.00 per hour
