Macy’s Looking for Lead Systems Engineer, Compute and Operations at Johns Creek, GA Full Time

Overview:

Lead, Systems Engineering at Macy’s Technology reports to the Manager, Software Engineering, and plays a key role in leading the software and systems engineering technical direction and development of enterprise solutions. As a lead engineer, you serve as the technical anchor for the engineering team that supports a product or platform. You create, own and are responsible for the application architecture that best serves the product in its functional and non-functional needs. You identify and drive architectural changes to accelerate feature development or improve the quality of service, operations, or infrastructure. You have deep and broad engineering and operational skills. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.  Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Design and deliver robust, scalable, and secure distributed software and platform systems.
• Create/review technical design documentation and Provide leadership including constructive code reviews and design guidance to team members.
• Work collaboratively in a group of passionate engineers in a high energy, fast paced and outcome-oriented environment.
• Lead a technical and/or operational team by example and foster growth in junior team members.
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality.   

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

• MA/MS and BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field strongly preferred.
• Overall 8+ years of experience in the software development and high-volume enterprise systems.
• 5+ years of experience in an enterprise ITSM Platform such as ServiceNow
• 3+ years working with ServiceNow with emphasis on ITSM Platform Suite
• ITIL or ServiceNow Admin certification preferred
• Working knowledge of Javascript preferred

Communication Skills:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret complex technical documents. 

Reasoning Ability:

• Leads the development phase of projects, making work assignments and managing  task completion.  Selects tools/methodologies for projects. 
• Commits to deliverables for scope of work. 
• Modifies jobs and schedules for jobs as necessary. 

Physical Demands:

• This position involves regular walking, standing, sitting for extended periods of time, hearing, and talking.
• May occasionally involve stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
• May involve close vision, color vision, depth perception, focus adjustment, and viewing computer monitor for extended periods of time.
• Involves manual dexterity for using keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment.
• May involve moving or lifting items under 10 pounds. 

Work Hours:

•  Ability to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs.
