New Story School is an educational organization comprised of special education schools in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Ohio, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. We offer an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with autism or emotional/behavioral disorders. Our multidisciplinary team collaborates with families, school districts, and community partners to empower children in overcoming challenges and creating new stories in their lives.
New Story is searching for a Special Education Supervisor to take on a key role in the school’s leadership team. The Special Education Supervisor serves as a mentor for new teachers and provides overall support to the academic program. Starting rate of pay is based on experience.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with ensuring compliance with Department of Education regulations.
- Participate in the individual education plan (IEP) process by attending IEP meetings, working collaboratively with IEP team members, completing and preparing IEP paperwork, and delivering instruction in a meaningful appropriate way to enable students to progress towards goals outlined in the IEP.
- Assist in the development of individualized lesson plans, goals, and success criteria for specially designed instruction.
- Conduct training needs assessments and provides initial and ongoing training for employees.
- Ensure special education teachers follow appropriate teaching practices, curriculum, and outcome measures.
- Observe classrooms to assess curriculum staff and resource needs.
- Assist in the differentiation of curriculum to meet individual learning needs
- Support the special education classroom in the absence of the teacher.
- Assist in the coordination and administration of state testing.
- Monitoring employee performance and conducting performance evaluations
- Conducts and participates in interviews with academic staff
- Utilize non-violent crisis intervention techniques and physically assist when needed
