The Education Strategist will support and expand the NYCLU’s efforts to engage Indigenous communities and support their civil rights policy goals, primarily in the field of education. The Education Strategist will strengthen the organization’s relationships with individual young people as well as public schools, childcare centers, and community organizations working in Indigenous communities through public education, legislative advocacy, limited direct services, workshop and program development, and community outreach.
The Education Strategist uses a broad knowledge of NYCLU mission, vision, and values to carry out responsibilities. This requires a substantive understanding of the NYCLU’s work around education reform, and classroom or youth organizing experience, as well as a basic familiarity with legislative advocacy, lobbying, and community organizing.
