Do you love a clean swatch palette and refined set of paragraph styles? Do you see dense paragraphs of text and start immediately redesigning them in your head? Are you fascinated with the “nuts and bolts” of InDesign and other Adobe programs, and how to best leverage them to create clear, compelling communications? If so, we’d like to have you join Otak’s marketing team as a Graphic Designer! This position can be based out of our Portland, OR or Redmond, WA office.
As an integrated member of the marketing team, you will coordinate and develop various graphics and layouts for marketing materials. The focus of this role will be directly supporting the design of persuasive client-facing proposals – longform report-style submissions in InDesign. This role will also work closely with our creative director and graphic designer to maintain brand consistency and best practice in visuals across Otak. There will be opportunities to collaborate and learn from Otak’s current creative team in branding, collateral templates, and infographic development as you work through a variety of internal marketing projects.

What you’ll do:
- Design and production of marketing and business development materials, including:
- A/E/C proposal submissions and statements of qualification (covers, dividers, schedules, infographics, charts, etc.)
- Interviews and presentations (slide decks, boards, leave-behinds, etc.)
- Supporting on award submittals, brochures, advertisements, and office signage
- Assist with photography and photo editing for staff headshots, company and community events, and project photography
- Communicate/meet regularly with designers, coordinators, and pursuit managers in other offices to move work along
- Take direction from and collaborate with Otak’s creative director and lead graphic designer on brand projects
- Graphic design and photo editing support for communications/social media team
What you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field; graphic design degree preferred
- Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in design, layout, and production
- Interest in/ familiarity with the built and natural environment and how architecture, urban design, and engineering interact on projects
- Demonstrated advanced skills in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator
- Intermediate skills in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience as a strategic, creative contributor to the marketing team
- Demonstrated time management skills to keep project assignments on schedule and achieve set objectives
Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 including 2 doses of a 2-dose series or 1 dose of a 1-dose series plus 14 days beyond the final dose prior to start date.
