System One Looking for Construction Operations Manager at Tucson, AZ Full Time

Summary:
The Construction Operations Manager’s job is to oversee and manage construction and project management teams for multiple solar and/or electrical construction projects. You will be a part of the management team and will participate in the project planning, help determine the budget, select any necessary contractors, review paperwork and permits before submission, and direct the daily operations of each project. You would report directly to the company President. You will also participate in preparing strategic business plans for the organization.
Responsibilities:

• Manage field construction team, project management team and project engineers to create a mutual understanding of the project strategy based on the requirement of the job.
• Mentor and train project managers and engineers in the arrangement and analysis of projects and scheduling of reports on projects.
• Manage staff responsible for warehouse and fleet management and materials purchasing.
• Convey project needs from the project managers to the management team. For example, in a case whereby extra funds are needed for the completion of a project.
• Assist in the maintenance, development, and enhancement of the company’s relationship with contractors in a bid to produce strategic partnership.
• Make periodic trips to construction sites to evaluate safety, quality, progress, and overall status. Manage resolution of all site issues affecting team performance.
• Oversee projects as they are being carried out to make sure that the work is done according to outlined specifications, and that they also conform with project timetable and budget.
• Ensure safety programs are implemented and managed for each project and make sure that all projects are compliant with OSHA and company safety requirements.
• Conduct in-depth reviews and analysis of all project or contract documents to be familiar with every detail and/or requirements.
• Participate in review and commentary on RFPs, evaluate proposals, assist in the definition of project scope and objectives.
• Hire, train, develop, and appraise staff effectively. Take corrective action as necessary on a timely basis and in accordance with company policy. Consult with Human Resources as appropriate.
• Learn and abide by the Policies and Procedures. Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and professionalism in all communications, actions, and decisions.

Requirements:

• 5 years of construction management experience at a superintendent or equivalent/higher level required. Preferable projects are predominantly self-performed (not mostly subcontracted).
• Experience with solar and/or electrical preferred.
• 2 or more years of formal education preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Products, especially proficiency in Excel required.

• Effective computer skills; Microsoft Office Software, Google Suite, and other Company software applications.

Physical Effort:
Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 50 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
