The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Temple University Health System announce the search for a BC/BE Surgical Pathologist to join our faculty.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in general surgical pathology in an environment that has provided the opportunity to experience a wide spectrum of gross and microscopic examination of surgical specimens, as well as biopsies. A niche area in surgical pathology is recommended for example in areas of GU, Breast, Head and Neck pathology, etc. is preferred. The position also requires a strong interest in teaching and resident supervision. Opportunities also exist for engagement in research for interested applicants.
The Department of Pathology receives over 16,500 surgical specimens, (excluding nearly 10,000 oral pathology specimens), 3000 cytology specimens, 100 autopsies, and performs over 1.6 million laboratory tests in a typical year. Special diagnostic testing includes immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, molecular diagnostics, electron microscopy, and digital image analysis. Modern research laboratories are equipped for tissue culture, real-time PCR, techniques for advanced protein detection, and molecular biology.
