The Execu|Search Group Looking for School Paraprofessional – Elementary at Bronx, NY Full Time

An education system in New York City is currently seeking a new School Paraprofessional for a promising opportunity at one of the Bronx elementary schools for the  2021-22 school year. Under the direction of the Classroom Teacher, the School Paraprofessional will be responsible for providing instructional reinforcement in academic, recreation, motor, communication, and socialization.

Responsibilities:

The School Paraprofessional – Elementary will:

• Serve as a positive, nurturing guide for students who have emotional special needs, cognitive disabilities, autism, and other special needs
• Safely supervise and direct students in both instructional and social activities in and out of the classroom
• Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community, following and upholding school rules and standards
• Collecting data documenting student behavior for instructional purposes and writing anecdotal reports concerning student behavior
• Participate in planning sessions with the learning team, communicating with parents and school officials, as needed
• Attend to students’ physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs; help with transitions and hygienic needs, when necessary
• Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

• 6+ months of related work experience
• High School Diploma / GED
• Proven experience working with students
• Solid assessment and documentation skills
• Great interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organized

Desired Skills:

• Assistant Teaching certification
• Current First Aid and CPR certification
• Experience working with Special Needs students
