Whatcom Community College invites applications for a Graphic Designer position (Class Code 198F). The Communications & Marketing Department is seeking a Graphic Designer to support the College’s graphic design, photography, and videography needs. The Graphic Designer will report to the Design & Creative Specialist and work closely with the Guided Pathways Director and workgroup.
Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
- Work closely with the Guided Pathways Coordinator on grant funded activity, following deadlines and supporting the larger Guided Pathways workgroup.
- Coordinate the design and production of a wide variety of graphic design projects, using Adobe Creative Suite.
- Identify, plan and implement Guided Pathways’ creative and visual design, following guidance of faculty lead for Guided Pathways.
- Create the needed Guided Pathways’ graphic, visual and creative products for website refresh.
- Support the development of graphic design for print and electronic distribution and integration into WCC daily use, website, and student promotions.
- Create graphics for College’s refreshed website, guided pathways, welcome center, and other urgent initiatives.
- Support the Marketing and Publications workgroup and Advancement graphic design requests with guidance of Design and Creative Specialist.
- Assists with maintenance of the College’s photo library and responds to campus requests for photo files.
- Provide advice and suggestions to college personnel on publications with an eye to ensure that graphic standards are observed.
- Schedule photo shoots with faculty, staff, students, donors, and community members for marketing publications; as well as shooting and editing photos for College events.
- Create promotional videos for the College with Adobe Premier or other video editing software.
- Support urgent graphic design and visual enhancement needs created by working & learning online as well as needs created by campus re-entry planning, transitioning meetings, events, and marketing to online systems.
- Provide copy editing for graphic design materials, i.e AP Style and following the College’s branding & style guide.
- Manage, design and schedule media files (FIN) using the AxisTV Management System as well as update the Ignite Reader Board as needed.
- Edit and maintain WCC’s website homepage, landing pages, and calendar updates as requested.
- Design and schedule social media ads.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in graphic design, visual communications, or similar area.
- Graphic design skills for print and web demonstrated by a combination of formal training and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using a DSLR camera.
- Familiarity with Adobe Premier or other video editing software.
- Creative design and artistic direction experience.
- Copy editing experience.
Salary
Salary and Appointment:
- Range 42, full-time salary starting at $3,401.00 per month with periodic increments to $4,425.00 per month.
