Administrative Assistant – Assessing Department, Full Time
Town of Windham
Major duties include, but are not limited to: assists the Assessor in duties using technical judgement and well as outlined municipal code of ordinances and laws of the State of NH. Processes applications for tax abatements, tax exemptions, tax credits, and timber taxes. Maintains department filing system including property record cards and associated documents. Provides technical information to businesses, government officials, and the public regarding tax assessment practices. Performs regular administrative duties on own initiative, exercising a high degree of judgement and tact. Demonstrates substantial knowledge of Town and departmental practices.
Successful candidates must possess exceptional attention to details, deadlines and time management. Applicants must be able to work extremely well with the public and independently, work well as part of a team and maintain confidentiality. Experience in a municipal setting is preferred but not necessary.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; 1-3 years of office administration work experience; proficient use of computers and Microsoft Office suite and any other software necessary for job; excellent customer service skills required; Assessing administrative experience and/or familiarity with New Hampshire State Statutes related to tax assessment preferred but not required.
Starting pay is $24.29 – $29.51 depending on qualifications.
